Setup was painless and it paired with my console on the first try, which surprised me given how finicky older wireless gear can be. The 2.4G connection feels solid with no noticeable lag during a quick session of Crash Bandicoot. Battery life seems decent so far, and the classic grey plastic looks right at home next to the original hardware.

The HD boost is the main draw here, and it does a solid job cleaning up the pixel art without ruining the classic look. I’ve played through the first few stages and the frame rate stays smooth even with all the enemy bullets flying around. It’s a faithful port, just wish there were a couple of modern quality-of-life options like a rewind feature.

The 2.4G connection on this has been rock solid for me, no drops even across the room. The charging dock is also super convenient, just drop it in after a session and it's ready for the next day.

The red frost shell looks sharp, and it did recognize my memory cards on both consoles without fuss. That said, the build feels a bit plasticky and the slot is tighter than I'd like, so I'm not sure how it'll hold up after a year of regular use.

Finally, I can use my favorite Bluetooth pads on the TurboGrafx without hunting for original controllers — the pairing was quick and it held a solid connection through a whole session of Bomberman. Setup took less than two minutes after plugging it into the console’s port, and it’s small enough to leave in place.
