Finally, after an epic journey, we are able to support the original PlayStation! The HD Retrovision PS1 adapter converts the male 9-pin mini-DIN connector on the Genesis YPbPr cable to a male PlayStation 12-pin connector.

The specific list of known supported consoles can be found here. Though it may work with others that haven't been tested, it cannot be guaranteed.

Although the PlayStation 1 adapter will work with PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 consoles, RGB/SCART output needs to be enabled in the system menu and even then it can only operate properly in the standard definition video modes (240p/288p/480i/576i).

Additionally, the built-in DVD/Blu-ray Player application in these consoles is restricted from using RGB/SCART mode, so DVD/Blu-ray playback won't display properly when set to this mode.

If this missing functionality is important to you, we recommend using our PlayStation 2/3 YPbPr Cable instead which is available here.

NOTE: This product requires an HD Retrovision Genesis YPbPr Cable.  It will not work with a SNES YPbPr cable.

Your television or display must be able to support "240p"video over YPbPr to use this product.  You can easily test for this by following these steps

Chloe J. ★★★★★

Plugged it into my Genesis 2 cable and the picture on my PS1 sharpened up instantly—no more blurry mess on my CRT. The fit is snug and it feels solid, exactly what I needed to finally play my old discs without hunting down a dedicated cable.

Timothy J. ★★★★★

Plugged it into my Genesis cable and fired up Castlevania SOTN, and the picture quality is dead-on, no fuzz or distortion. The build feels solid too, with a snug fit that doesn't wiggle. This little adapter finally makes my old PS1 usable on a modern TV setup.

Violet ★★★★★

Took forever to get here, but now my original PS1 finally works on the modern TV through the Retrovision cable. The adapter snapped on clean and the picture came up sharp with no fuss.
